About the Website
Ichimen (一面) is a word that means "front page of a newspaper” in Japanese. This is the definition that was taken into context of this website’s title, bearing the inspiration of Arashi’s Mr. Sho Sakurai in his stint as a newscaster in Nippon TV’s News Zero every Monday.
The logo, which are petals of a cherry blossom that are laid like an open book, is also inspired by Mr. Sakurai. His surname's first character symbolizes the iconic Japanese tree, sakura (櫻／桜). An open book represents both the intellect of Mr. Sakurai and this portal's quality content for its readers.
The three stamens of the flower, on the other hand, represent the three vital parts of this website: raves, reviews, and ruminations.
The objective of this website is to elevate the author's passion into something more productive for her skills, more communicative to her readers, and more valuable for her audience.
Amid the propagation of contents for this website, the author decided to include promoting small and medium enterprises and fellow content creators from other platforms FOR FREE as her advocacy to support the Filipinos. This will, hopefully, help alleviate the economy from the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic even in a small way.
Perhaps, the raison d'être in making this blog is that the author has reached the starting point of realizing her self-actualization as a writer: That she can write both for herself and for her readers.
About the Author
Kat Manapat has spent eight years (and counting) writing professionally in the academe, in a publishing company, and in the government. In 2012, she graduated from the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila with a degree in journalism.
In college, Kat served as a campus journalist for her beloved LPU Independent Sentinel, the official student publication for the tertiary level of her alma mater.
Apart from writing, Kat also engages in other creative ventures such as drawing, layout, and graphic design. This website is proof of her multifaceted love for her craft.
She is also a huge fan of Japanese popular culture, including the anime, songs, dramas, and even the language—Nihongo, and dreams to become a professional translator someday while juggling this gig with her current profession.
She is currently living in Metro Manila, Philippines.
